Google disabled by Facebook

Today Facebook disabled the new Friend Connect from Google to get the friends from Facebook into this new Service. Google now has to gather the Friends themselves. Or do you have Orkut? Is this project aimed at taking friends away from Facebook and/or is it two way? Can Facebook via Friend Connect import all my 2 Orkut friends into facebook? Anyway a lot off questions and no answers yet.

Are IP addresses Personal?

Because we are building a Browser Based Authentication (BBA) system I came across this interesting article by Google. User trust is the most important factor of the BBA. We already have, with some regrets, striped some great features from the system because it would endanger the users privacy. The BBA will not use IP addresses to identify people and will safeguard the users privacy. More about the BBA when the system is ready.

Twitter Search Engine

TerraMindsIf you want to search Twitter post try this Search Engine. I wonder how far back it can search. When will Google integrate this?

TRUSTe does not trust Google anymore

TRUSTeWhen you look at the TRUSTe list of trusted online companies you see Microsoft, Yahoo! but not Google. In 2005 TRUSTe ranked Google the number 11 Most Trusted Company for Privacy. What happened here? Just wondering. Leave a comment if you know.

When you don’t have google mail anymore.

Here is an interesting article about Google Horror. I more and more think users must be able to have control over all their data. I think it is a good thing Google disables in some cases the web presence of a user but I think must keep a way open for the user to backup his data. In my twitter case it would have been nice for me to extract the “Followers” and be able to send them a Twit that the feed was temporary (8 months) down.

Why use Perl if you can crack MD5 passwords with Google?

Google MD5Just for fun I am using Perl to find two character strings with the same MD5 hash key. Apparently you can just use Google. Check it out here and here.
