TalkShoe Testing
Yesterday we tested TalkShoe. You have a web version and a Classic Windows Install version. To get users to Talk and not only listen, it works better to install the software. One problem I see is you have to go to all kinds of steps before you can join a conversation for the first time. The people participating in Live TalkShoe via the computer seem to be mostly host of other shows. TalkShoe is perhaps a community of hosts. In America you can call in by phone. “Normal” participants seem to do this. We tested it from the Netherlands and concluded the product is not usable for us. Perhaps it is the number of hops the packets travel but talking seemed like we where giving an interview connected via satellite TV. You almost want to say “over” every time. If recording a Podcast is the goal perhaps the newconference will work better for the Netherlands. They will record the conversation and you can download the MP3 afterwards. We still have to test this but it looks promising.
