SeeqPod

SeeqPodI normally hear about Web 2.0 sites on Podcasts I listen to or see something about them on the net. SeeqPod escaped my attention until Warner Music Group sued them this week. Because 2008 is the year DRM will die we will see more suing this year by the old Music industry. They have a hard time adopting to a word where Young people don’t want CD’s anymore. They just want to download music to their phone or MP3 player. They will not stop this movement away from CD’s by suing sites like SeeqPod I think.

The Mirror not a Mirror for the public anymore

The MirrorToday the Mirror announced they will stop popular forum threads. Popular discussions will get abused more and their moderators can’t handle that. See this statement from The Mirror:

Important notice to all users of mirror.co.uk forums
Sadly, due to persistent and serious abuses, we will no longer be hosting discussions regarding Madeleine McCann on this website. We do not take this action lightly, believing this website should be a place for free and frank discussion across the broadest possible range of subjects. But the level of debate on the Maddy forums has gone way beyond what we consider acceptable, with several recent incidents of extremely abusive postings, both against fellow users and the McCanns. We will not tolerate this kind of behaviour from a small handful of malign voices and have taken the unprecedented decision to block all further discussion on the McCanns. We remind all users of our guidelines for mirror.co.uk, which can be found here: http://www.mirror.co.uk/forums Any further abuse of the spirit of this decision will result in users being immediately banned from our website. Mirror.co.uk is a family website. We want to encourage debate, even argument, across our forums. We are confident this decision will be understood and welcomed by the vast majority of our right-minded users.

All participants in this particular discussion have now moved to a new forum: http://the3arguidos.net/

TalkShoe Testing

TalkShoeYesterday we tested TalkShoe. You have a web version and a Classic Windows Install version. To get users to Talk and not only listen, it works better to install the software. One problem I see is you have to go to all kinds of steps before you can join a conversation for the first time. The people participating in Live TalkShoe via the computer seem to be mostly host of other shows. TalkShoe is perhaps a community of hosts.  In America you can call in by phone. “Normal” participants seem to do this. We tested it from the Netherlands and concluded the product is not usable for us. Perhaps it is the number of hops the packets travel but talking seemed like we where giving an interview connected via satellite TV. You almost want to say “over” every time. If recording a Podcast is the goal perhaps the newconference will work better for the Netherlands. They will record the conversation and you can download the MP3 afterwards. We still have to test this but it looks promising.

Birch wood is fine-grained and pale in colour, often with an attractive satin-like sheen. Now I know why..
